This is my third time of practicing tonguing and I decided to take a record of it. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/Qki3M5zrbxE
Hi Mike! I apologize for my late response. I moved to Florida and then had to deal with the hurricane. But I'm back!
This sounds excellent. Just excellent. You are setting up now and your first notes are settling SO much better. I'm happy!

Making progress…
I deliberately moved away from mouthpiece after each note to practice the three-step Estela suggested above.
Ive been practicing slurs for a couple of weeks too.
@trumpetheadquarters thank you Estela, great tip! I just realised how I currently form the embouchure by relying on the pressure that was brought from the mouthpiece, rather than form it proactively. Will start to practice those three steps!
Cheers,
Mike
@crucified713 wow that’s sounding so great. I’m gonna give you one tip to make it even better. The very first note of set tends to be a little flat at first and then settles, as if it’s unfocused. To fix it follow these 3 steps carefully when you’re about to play:
- put your trumpet up
- set the embouchure muscles
- breathe through the corners and play
You want to avoid accidentally combining steps 2 and 3 into one.
great job!!
Nice job!! I think this is going perfectly. Keep practicing and post an update in a couple of weeks. As you spend more time on the horn and on a specific technique we will see issues arise if any and we can tackle them as we go. This recording was clear and I don’t see anything to worry about at this time.
